Supplies & Links for Your Making a Home Binder

One of my favorite things about Making a Home is that you can truly make it your own. Whether you prefer a simple, functional binder or one that’s beautifully put together, these are the supplies I personally recommend to create a binder you’ll actually enjoy reaching for every day.
The best part? You don’t need to buy everything at once. Start with the basics, then add upgrades over time if you’d like.

The Essentials
These are the only supplies you truly need to get started.
Three-Ring Binder
Choose a sturdy 2” or 3” binder depending on how many pages you plan to include. I personally love linen or fabric-covered binders because they’re beautiful enough to leave out on a shelf or in your home command center.

Durable D-Ring Binder
Printer Paper
For the nicest finished look, I recommend printing on 24–32 lb bright white paper instead of standard copy paper. The pages feel more substantial and hold up much better over time.

Divider Tabs
Making a Home includes several printable tab styles so you can customize your binder to fit your home’s aesthetic.

My Favorite Upgrades
These aren’t necessary, but they make your binder more durable, flexible, and enjoyable to use!!
Sheet Protectors (My #1 Recommendation)
If you’re only going to buy one extra supply, I’d recommend sheet protectors.
They keep your pages protected while making it incredibly easy to add, remove, or replace templates as your home changes. Whether you’re updating routines, printing a fresh planner, or reorganizing sections, you can swap pages in seconds without reprinting your entire binder. I use sheet protectors for the majority of my binder because they keep the system flexible while still looking polished.

Laminator (Optional)
A laminator is a great addition if you’d like extra durability for divider tabs, section covers, or other pages that get handled frequently.
I don’t laminate my entire binder because it ends up being too thick. Instead, I reserve lamination for tabs and section covers while using sheet protectors for everything else. It gives you the best of both worlds: durability where you need it and flexibility everywhere else.

Paper Cutter
If you’re printing your own tabs and section covers, a paper cutter makes trimming everything quick, clean, and perfectly straight.
Corner Rounder
Not essential, but one of my favorite finishing touches. It gives laminated tabs and section covers a polished, professional look.
Three-Hole Punch
Helpful if you’re printing on regular paper instead of pre-punched paper or if you want to add additional documents to your binder later.
